Kyle sat on the team bench and laced his cleats. The Blackstone University game was about to begin, and he was one of the starters. Coach Brennan had been thrilled to find out that the Raider’s Forum would be reformed, and the posts would feature a much more positive message for all.

Paris had paid a visit to Carla and helped to get her into in-patient therapy. After searching her room with Jeff and Rip, they discovered a sling shot among her things. Carla had claimed that it didn’t belong to her, but they also found a diary that had some not-so-flattering things about Lacey in it.

No one could explain the flowers or why Carla would leave them for Lacey. Paris had told them that unbalanced people don’t always do logical things. So, everything was all good.

Kyle was looking forward to playing against Blackstone University. Their striker, Drew Maxwell, was one of the best in the country and Kyle couldn’t wait to go up against him. He’d played Drew a few times in the past and they had hung out a little. Wade had been at Blackstone when Drew and his girlfriend, Gwen, had almost died in a huge scandal with some secret society. Wade’s story had been outrageous, and Kyle hadn’t believed it until Rip had verified it all.

Lacey had agreed to drop the story and they all spread that around as a precaution. He didn’t want her to investigate anything that could get her into trouble. They had hung out every day for the past week and things could not have been better. After the game, he was taking her to a charity event his mother was hosting. It was a formal dinner with dancing and an open bar. Some rich guy had bought a table and decided not to attend. Kyle’s mom didn’t want an empty table, so she bribed Kyle into attending. She offered to allow him to fill it with his friends. It was going to be a fun night. He also had plans for after the festivities.

Kyle glanced over at Lacey who was sitting on the grass against the fence waiting for the game to start. He never expected to have a girlfriend, but Lacey made it easy.

“Good luck,” Lacey mouthed to him when he caught her eye.

Kyle gave her a chin lift and jogged onto the field. The Blackstone players were on the turf getting ready for the game to begin. Kyle stopped a few feet away from Drew who was stretching.

Drew popped up with a big smile. “Maddow. Good to see you, man.”

Kyle held out his fist and Drew bumped it. “How ya doing, man?”

“I heard you weren’t playing today.”

“Almost didn’t. But don’t worry. I’ll take it easy on you.”

“You wish.”

“Are you sticking around after? Did you head over with the team?”

Drew glanced back at his side of the field. His girlfriend, Gwen, was sitting on the bottom row of the bleacher. “Gwen followed the team bus. We thought we’d hang out tonight before heading back tomorrow.
